lol i know you will all hate me for this, but i am quite happy this game is still a long way off:

1) Polish - the number of MMOs of late that have been rushed out unfinished to try and generate cash flow to aid a wailing P&L statement has been a joke - Vanguard, Tabula Rasa, AoC, etc...  all could have been great games, but were nothing more than a closed beta at launch. I'd say vanguard resembled something more akin to an alpha it was that full of bugs. What we've seen so far of SWTOR seems to resemble a playable game - so Bioware needing another year gives me a LOT of satisfaction that what will launch will be a highly polished, top quality MMO!

2) MBA - this one is purely selfish, but by the time of launch I will have completed my MBA, which will mean I will have much more free playing time than I do now. I was fretting at how I was going to balance my work life, my family life, my study life and the time I want to sink into SWTOR - but it looks like this won't be a problem - happy days!

flame me all you want - I am happy!

I'm not actually surprised it is going to take that long or that bothered, I too want a complete game that is properly finished and bug free and if that takes until next spring then so be it.

They are taking their time with TOR like Blizzard did so "in my opinion" this will be a game of class like what blizzard did and other "imo" failed to match

Excellent choise by Bioware imo, and i'm happy with it also
even tho it means we have to wait for atlest 14 months.

I prefer a complete and bug free game like Harlequin said unlike some other
MMOs that were published before they were ready: AoC, WAR...

well... i am dissapointed that its taking that long. With where they are at now, releasing video's of people testing internally im a bit confused as to why they want to spend that amount of time polishing. in all honesty i think they are planning that window and have fingers crossed WoW Cataclysm comes out late 2010 or early 2011 so people have played that and once again realized blizzard are doing the same thing over and over again. Cataclysm is said to be a big "overhaul" in wow but i cant see them implementing so many changes in such a short period of time. Anyways fingers crossed for ToR beta  Cheesy

1. To have a complete and polished MMO you need tons of work and testing. There are so many bugs and
so many glitches equal to the number of grays of sands in the beach lol ^^ So i'm very happythat  Bioware is
being responsible and finishing this even even if it meens a year of Alpha and 6 months of Beta.

2. Blizzard atm is the best gaming company out there (imo), but i think they ruined WoW with all the
expansions they published. They are doing the same thing over and over again and no doubt this time won't
be different - more levels, some new instances and raids = more money for Blizzard. I lost hope about WoW
after lvl 70 (which i had 3 of them btw ^^).

I really don't mind either, like many have said before i rather have them take their time to do what they have to.
And like Bleurgh i'l have finished my exams on my current school so i'l have more time for ToR.

Looks like we won't be seeing SW:ToR during the spring after all  Cry

Quote
"We are not assuming that we bring a major new MMO to market in fiscal ‘11. We will continue to increase significant development cost as we prepare this title for launch,” he said.

Both EA and Lucas has previously said the game is aiming for a “spring 2011? release, putting the launch in either April or May 2011.

As CEO John Riccitiello added, the costs involved here are gigantic, so don’t be hugely shocked if this trundles off into the back half of next year.

“It’s a significant cost,” said the exec. “MMOs can cost as much as two to six, seven times as much as a front-line title, if they’re done right.

Lol Daniel..

It's that "targetting" word that bugs me the most, like as in they are aiming for it but might not actually hit it and it may well end up being pushed back even further still...blehh...
